How awesome it is to be tagged for a writing exercise by the musician, mom, ex-NYer & sometime Nashville songwriter I’ve been stalking lurking reading silently for the past few months.

Anyway, ten things I’m supposed to tell you about me. I’m glad it’s not “ten things I haven’t already told you” since I spill my guts here on a regular basis. That would have been hard. But a plain old ten things list should be pretty easy.
Before I start writing, let me tag whoever wants to participate. I don’t know where the tag originated, so link back here or to another blog in the chain if that’s what frees your mind. Tag on, people.
- In the middle of all my hypochondria and self-diagnoses, I actually do have a teeny tiny impulse control situation called trichotillomania. I pull out my hair in certain spots when stressed or nervous. I keep my hair cut short in the back of my head to hide my go-to area. I tell hair stylists that it keeps breaking when, in fact, I am pulling it right out.
- I bought a ceramic flat iron over the weekend. Best hair styling tool ever. Super hot, but the heat is not damaging. My hair was soft and cute and flippy until I went to bed. The downside: it doesn’t produce a hold like the traditional metal curling irons, so I have to do this everyday.
- I’ve added another addiction to my NFL off-season viewing: Pimp My Ride. So now it’s Forensic Files, Cops and Pimp My Ride. Is there a pattern? Lots and lots of marathons. I think I forgot to feed the kids on Saturday.
- I finally saw Election with Matthew Broderick and Reese Witherspoon, also on Saturday. I think it’s based on a book or a short story which now I must read. The character flaws were fantastically developed. I felt like a normal person while watching it. It’s definitely going on the favorite movie list. It was on it before the opening credits.
- I have a new favorite quote: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” Ghandi and Michael “Man in the Mirror” Jackson have more in common than you think.
- The first thing I’m buying with my new paycheck (optimism always helps the wait) is an area rug to cover the pet damage to the carpet. And some window treatments. Then I’m buying a new bed. After that, I’ll be responsible and pay old bills. I’ll be much happier writing those checks in a loverly living space after a very good night’s sleep, don’t you think?
- I like that Toyota FJ Cruiser. In titanium metallic. It’ll be so me after I’ve been on the perfect job for a year.
- White chocolate is my favorite candy. Lilies are my favorite flowers. Children are my favorite gigglers.
- When I start rubbing my eyes, I’m sleepy even if I deny it when asked.
- I hate sleeping alone even if I deny it when asked.
