the blog is always the last to know

hello-world-1024x768

I got laid off from my with severance on Monday.

This is a good thing, a happy thing. Reading even one or two random posts on this blog, we all saw it coming. I’m sure every morning, my manager and director were surprised to see me (“I really had the asshole in me turned up strong yesterday. You did, too! Why does she keep coming in here??) They finally figured out how to avoid the fire-the-pregnant-black-girl-on-her-maternity-leave lawsuit by laying me off a few months after my return.

I had a list written for this post in my head last night. Something about all the good things about getting laid off. I don’t feel like writing it now. It seems too cheery and flip while I am still processing it all. I’ll get to it another time.

Jordan’s bike camp is still on schedule and, as a matter of fact, employed it was gonna be a budgetary strain to get us all to another city for one week. Hotel, transportation, food, activities, new bikes and bike rack for the car: I wasn’t sure if I was going to have room on my debit card both for the hotel deposit hold and, you know, to actually use the card. So this will be nice: traveling with grace and leeway.

Knowing that I’d been holding off on teaching Jon Alex (apathetic) how to ride a bike until Jordan (lifelong goal) learned, the bike camp directors called and asked if I wanted to enroll him as well. Heck yeah and thank you. So the only HMX4 (my shorthand for the surname combos we have going on around here) who will not be learning to ride is Ehren. Which is quite alright since he is presently learning how to sit up.

Do you Twitter? Follow me here. in 140 characters or less is very attractive to me right now. Remember: the trick to Twitter is to follow as many people that you find interesting. My stream is a mix of politics, humor, public service and Q. Quirky takes on the world, plus knowing when my husband is awake for the day.

Here is to new beginnings…
