It’s Friday and that’s all I have to say about that

Posting from my iPhone WP app, so please forgive any imperfection.

The kids will be out of school for all of next week for Thanksgiving beginning today at noon. We will be cleaning the house and going nowhere except my mom’s for Thursday dinner.

You know, I may have always expressed a sarcastic (and yes) admiring contempt for the mommyblog genre, yet that network amazes me and touches my soul when one of its own finds herself in crisis. Miscarriages, cancer, losing a child: the wagons circle and no one is left behind.

I usually read their stories in the background of my own life. Maybe I’ve sent something as a stranger knowing I’ll never be part of a movement that massive, that loving, that strong. It’s a small jealousy while acknowledging I don’t have the emotional capacity to maintain that many relationships at once.

I’d never read or heard of Anissa Mayhew before reading of her stroke in my Twitter feed. I found her blog, thinking she’d been ill, the stroke being a complication of that. Her last post before the stroke? She was excited about leaving for an upcoming cruise (she would have left yesterday) with her mommyblogger friends.

Today, her husband gives a most eloquent update on Anissa’s condition and the needs of his family. He seems so calm and organized, although I imagine, offline, he feels nothing like that. His wife is tubed and unconscious after two strokes at 35 years old.

He is asking for no more than prayer.
