As much as I complain about this expensive, time-consuming holiday, I must admit I’m excited because it’s Ehren’s very first expensive, time-consuming holiday.
I ordered the kids’ family gifts and paid for two-day shipping. We should be rocking out to Lego Rock Band by Tuesday night (what? You thought I was a stickler for dates for this thing? Don’t get me started)
We were in Target supposedly buying infant formula and I insisted on a trip through the toy aisle. The older kids insisted that Ehren would enjoy Lego Rock Band and Band Hero as much as they will by gumming the microphone, but I thought maybe the baby would like something more age-appropriate, ye who are frosty about the baby getting a separate gift while you are being forced to share. I nearly cried when I saw the last Fisher-Price racin’ car garage on the shelf. The last one! My sister had one just like it when she was a baby and I spent hours on her floor playing it with her. The design hasn’t changed, only the Little People ethnicities. Cute Asian girl, white kid (blonde, of course, so there is no confusion) and an ethnically ambiguous brown kid with glasses. He could be from California with grandparents born in Mexico and Columbia, a black kid visiting from a coastal Italian republic, or Cablinasian, your imagination’s choice. We’ll see how Ehren eventually identifies with each one. I just wanna ring the bell and ride the elevator down to my car idling at the gas pump.
Holiday excitement in comments…
The Little People are considerably less little than they used to be, too.
.-= Motormouth´s last blog: what I want to know is… =-.
Good thing, too! We perform baby Heimlich on Ehren at least twice a day…
