I’ve had a really long week, and my dishwasher is broken.
Add in a few other crank-makers, and you’ve got yourself a fringes who’ll be glad when this week is over because she’ll be one week closer to turning 90 and being her children’s full-time problem.
The week on the Interwebs was better to me than was my dishwasher. I was excited to read on Erica‘s blog about her husband’s iPhone app Firefly Night. I bought it immediately because I had a gift card on my account and because isn’t that what friends do? Go get one. It’s a fun app, I gave it ★★★★★
Through @obiorion, I found a link to 55 WordPress tips, tricks and hacks which meant on Thursday, my heaviest blog traffic day, my blog was broken for most of it. Why can’t coding be drag and drop, people? We have the iPod, what other proof do you need of the future?
Mr Lady has started a code hacking series for her readers. I tried to leave a link in her comments to the 55 tips and hacks article, but her blog kicked me out with an error message. I get it—no interlopers. It’s cool.
I found a plug-in (that needs some CSS lovin’) to keep up with the week’s most frequent commenters. It’s in the sidebar under “fringe fellowship”. Love the concept, hate the layout. Will work on it some more.
Two of my giveaway winners chose their themes this week. Adam the day he won it, Sarah a little after. Hopefully, they will keep us all posted on the install. It’s a process. The winner from back in November is still using her original theme, so it must take losing your job for seven months and counting to really commit. I get that.
Tex In The City is blogging regularly again. I can’t remember how we stumbled over each other on the Internet because that was a very long time ago. This girl is one of my biggest fans, and I am one of hers. Visit her space and comment like it’s 2006.
I’m trying desperately to get my sidebar ad extravaganza off the home page, but damn.coding.again.
I think I’m all linked out. I found a TinyMCE for the comment area to make it super-easy for you guys to leave your own friday fellowship hyperlinks. Last Friday, you were shy. I know. Let me just say: we’re all friends here, so feel free to express yourself even if it involves a little nudity.
It kicked you OUT? That’s really weird. It should just warn you that your comment is going to moderation if you try to leave a link. I’ll totally check into that.
Well, I was hesitant to leave the link. I am a guest on your blog and unsure of how you feel about over-participation. I knew I was going to link to your post today anyway, so when I got the error message, I took it as a sign! It’s a great article, I hope your readers who are on WordPress and those who are thinking of making the switch can use it.
The ads don’t bother me in the slightest. I’ve even clicked on a few.
I’ve been trying to reply to this comment since early this morning! I think I shall give my blog mod muscles a break. Thanks for clicking the ads. I read in a couple of places that as long as they don’t break the theme by looking ugly, you’re good.
Aha, that explains it! Rich’s app is called “Firefly Night” — I couldn’t find the one-star review you mentioned, and now I understand why. Note to the Kains: more unique name next time.
@Erica, argh. Correcting link in post. I had 7 bucks left so I bought the right app. Reviewed it sight unseen, 5 stars
I think I stalked you from Citizen Of The Month lol
