What a busy week!
If all went well, and you are reading this past 10 a.m. central time, the kids and I completed our appearance on Great Day Houston promoting the Chevy Malibu. If you’re reading this before 9 a.m., don’t forget to watch the live stream here on the show’s website. If it’s between 9 and 10, go now! You’re missing it!
I’ve not seen Great Day Houston before, and I meant to watch it before showing up for our appearance but didn’t get around to it. I’m gonna have to trust that no one is waiting backstage with the results of a paternity test for me.
Today is my mom’s birthday and no way was she gonna spend her birthday morning in a television studio, especially since she spent about 10 years of her life in one while my sister and I co-anchored a kids’ news program for the local NBC station. Me for the first five years, then my sister for the second. I guess there is only so much breakroom chit-chat one can take in one lifetime. Happy birthday, Mom. Guess I’ll handle Cranky McCrankyPants on live TV by myself. No worries!
[UPDATED]

Dunno. I'm missing a level of vibrancy I would have wanted. Why does everybody else look so colorful? (clockwise from left) me, host Debra Duncan, Jordan, Ehren, Jon Alex
Did you watch it? We’re all either now at home, at the babysitter or slowly dying in a cubicle. Ehren wore me out in the green room, and there was a little confusion over why he wasn’t allowed in the play area with the other toddlers attending the show. So he sat on my lap during my segment and whined throughout the entire thing. He was hungry, tired, ready to go, all of that. He was a good boy, though. You’d be a little cranky, too, getting up at the crack of dawn with your frazzled mother forgetting to breakfast anybody. Jordan to the rescue with a fresh bottle of milk and a sleeve of Ritz crackers in her purse. She was like a magician. A life-saving magician.
The only web link shared with the studio audience and the five million people of the greater Houston area was to the Chevy Moms Facebook page, so it’s gonna be just me, you and my Belgian lurker for a while. No sudden influx of curious onlookers, and that’s just fine with us, right? But if you’re one of my Texas readers, go to the Facebook page and enter the contests for some really nice prizes. The chances of winning are pretty good.
Whew—okay, if you are new here, and you’ve read this far, you’re awesome, please stay. Click on a few links, most of them are internal so it’s easy to catch up on what goes on around here. Feel free to leave a footprint in comments so I’ll know you stopped by. Disclosure: I’ll always know when you’re around because I use a stat counter, but the comment will tell me your name.
