the men who stare at goats were waiting for us when we got home

As of this writing, Jordan is outside being reunited with the neighborhood-walking portion of her OCD.

The dog is at the boarder’s until I can get her out of hock, Jon Alex is still at his weekend getaway with my sister and her family, and the baby is in the lap of grandparents somewhere in rural north Texas. Oh, what about me, you ask? Still sick yet thoroughly enjoying The Men Who Stare At Goats with my old flame Doug Ross, M.D.

Wanna see photos from our trip? I wasn’t obsessive about taking pictures. The family of one of Jordan’s teammates handled documentary duties with much more powerful camera lenses and a media access pass, so I just kinda took some shots to share with you guys. More will come later once the professional photos arrive by email.

Jordan's name in lights

Notice she’s actually at bat on the scoreboard digital screen. Too cool…

pre-game warmups.

These are kinda out of order, bear with me…

the various buddies who help the who need it on the field

Jordan doesn’t need a buddy. She bats, hits, fields and runs without assistance. Some of the kids need help holding the bat or being kept along a direct route to first base.

waiting on third base before being batted in

No matter how far away I was sitting (it was a large stadium, and I was pretty far away) she always made eye contact. Her tracking me made for a great shot, I think.

she plays first base and, sometimes, catcher

I don’t think Jordan had any idea who Tony the Tiger was, but the parents, our childhoods being far less interesting, got a kick out of it.

More details in subsequent posts. You know me: you will get it all in one disjointed way or another. I don’t know if the food in rural Pennsylvania was godawful because I was sick or if that’s how it rolls, but blecch all the way around. No, there was no score kept in the game because everyone is a winner, right? The Little League team from Texas made it to the U.S. championship game, but lost 10-0 to the team from Hawaii. And, um, hmmm, when I think of something else, I’ll write it down.

Landing safely in comments…

So exciting! The game, not the illness. Although George Clooney does make me swoon, so there’s that.

I’d forgotten how good an actor he is until I watched TMWSAG last night. Our flame is officially rekindled.

You eat a bad hot dog, maybe? I never eat the ones at the ballparks…they just look wrong.

Jordan’s name in lights? I would’ve been hooting and hollering. I love that scoreboard.

Yay to Jordan! Having her name lighted up at the scoreboard was AWESOME! Tell her, Aunty Sweaty has never ever had her name lighted up like that. That was so, so cool :) )

    Hope you’ll feel better soon!!!
